You can run the power wire in any way as long as it is concealed and protected (with loom or conduit) and doesn't interfere with the car's functionality. However, knowing the judges, they'd want you to run the power inside the car, preferably.

You don't need to solder or heat shrink anything, although it is cleaner and preferred, but not required. You can use crimps and connectors as long as it was crimped correctly.

Assuming you're going for SQ Basic in USACi or Rookie in IASCA, there is a category called presentation. They need pictures on how you installed anything aftermarket in the car. So do care on how the radio is hooked up.

Speaker wires that are exposed should be loomed. If it's running under panels, then they do not need to be. One thing is that they don't go uninstalling your car to see what you did. So you can loom one section, take a picture of it, then not loom the rest.

Power wires should be away from any low level signal source including RCA's and processors. Speaker wires are high level, so it shouldn't matter, can be ran anywhere.

Pictures should be taken where anything is not stock. So from the battery to the amp's ground, you need to take pictures of everything.

If you need more questions answered, visit http://www.elitecaraudio.com . Some of the world SQ champs hang out there.
