SQ Driver @ 4.5 cubes @ 35hertz

It's your enclosure and tuning, not the sub. I've won with a 9512 (if you consider winning a SQ comp worth anything. Some people don't and I don't blame them).
At the end of the day, it's your money.....
Okay well what would you recommend then?

Also SQ competitions are about perfect balance and the volume level is verrrry low. I dont listen to my music that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Im not saying they dont sound OKAY but its for sure slow on kick bass.

Oh and I wish i could get that chest pounding feeling I have heard in other setups.

I have a 3hp neo that I had in 4 cu ft @ 34 hz and it murdered the lows and sounds very good but it won't take 2500 very long 1500 would be loud seeing I ran it on 750ish and it was to loud to blend with the fronts

I just put it up for sell today let me no if you might be interested

I have two presets on my Zapco processor...one for IASCA and one for me. Have you ever put your vehicle on a RTA? Do you have enough processing? Have you played with the positioning of the sub? Have you played with the crossover points? Do you have enough midbass? And I mean real midbass. A sub plays an incredibly small portion of the musical spectrum, 20hz to possibly 80hz.

Spend your money on what is reproducing 80hz to 20,000hz.

I will for sure have more money then that after i sell the 9515 and other amp and some other stuff.
Im still deciding though. I still love the loudness and how low it gets but having to reassemble my locks and back latch every month is getting old and I think i am going to get a really really nice comp set and better amp then i have.

Lol and for the time being i could throw some bricks in there

if u wanna replace the front comps, have u seen or heard the Dynaudio comps??

i got the chance to listen to the Esotec System 242 and i loved it i think they were getting 200+w each side im not sure

get off your high horse, the tempo 6 he has right now is not going to keep up the that DD sub. the other guy from the DIY forum has a good 3 way front stage that can keep up with the DD.

You act like a sub cannot be level matched with his Tempo 6. It can. Tuning 101.

Yes it can be level matched with his Tempo 6, you can do that with any sub. and how many W you think it will be needed for that?? how much the DD sub would need to match the Tempo 6 and not over power it?? just asking

He has an amp which provides more than adequate power for his sub. Buy a processor which can be used to properly level match the sub to his front stage. This has nothing to do with the amount of power he has.

I have a 500hp Mustang. If I want to travel 20 mph, I match how much pressure I place on the go-pedal with the number on the speedometer. I don't need to change my engine to go slower.

Turn down your gains, throw the bass boost, if you use one, in the garbage can. Run a RTA and compare the level of the sub to the front stage. I promise you it will be more than 20dB higher.

wait a min your saying you dont have the Gain set on your 500hp Mustang, you did turn off the bass boost on the Mustang right

lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Each of my doors is deadened inside and out with 25-30SQft of damp pro each. My tempos are solid down to 70 ish and I do all my processing off of an Alpine CDA-9887.

I don't use bass boost.... I know how to lower gains bro just gtfo of the thread.

Thanks for the ****ing lesson though!

I can already tell that your the guy that drops uselessly large vocabulary in conversations just to feel better then others.

Thats the next step. I think I am just going to sell the sub, box and one of the amps. Get a really nice set of comps and by the time I have that installed and decide on tweeter placement this time around I will be ready to buy!

I notice you dont mention the intensity level during judging. Let me guess, 126db? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Yes, Ive seen the same argument, that they've won SQ championships, to suggest L7's have great SQ too. But the reality is, if what you suggested were true, that its all in the tuning, we'd all be running massive subs with 4" voice coils and extra stiff suspensions. If the 9500 is this end-all be-all you seem to be implying, why did DD come out with their 'ultra SQ oriented' 9700 series? If its all in the tuning, why did you shell out the extra money for a 9500 when you could have just run a 1500 series? While I agree tuning and installation play a HUGE role, more so than the actual driver, to imply a sub with the design criteria like the 9500 series is a 'SQ sub' is just disingenuous. Even DD wouldn't say that's true. Lets face it, you own and have won with a 9500, you have a bias in this discussion, and its showing.

that's a good plan, i know you wanna change the fronts but still the comps you have are good comps. try to go to local dealers or some where that you can hear diff brands of comps and see which ones you like. and yea that box is useless for any other sub and that DD sub is not a SQ sub ( i cant make him understand that) you have a good plan. good luck on the system
