Right now my system sits as follows:
Alpine Iva-W200
Zapco Reference 360.4 bridged to 180w RMS per channel
Focal 165k2P Upgraded
Soundstream Pic 1.900 D amp
Cerwin Vega vMax 12.2 in a sealed enclosure (got sub for free)
I'm thinking that it's time to upgrade my subwoofer to get the most out of my system. It's not as articulate as I'd like it to be (I'm a classical pianist).
On the other hand, I listen to a lot of Dream Theater too and enjoy a subwoofer with a punch. Basically, I want a fast, powerful subwoofer that will keep up with my Focal's when I turn it up but NOT GET BOOMY and inarticulate.
From what I've read, the IDMAX 12 fits the bill. Just to be clear on something - with the D2 version of the IDMAX, I can bridge the terminals and run it at 1ohm, correct?
Do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade? I have zero experience with any subwoofers besides my own so I have no frame of reference.
