Spooney's latest box build

is there a certain type of saw-blade that you have to use to cut birch? i never used birch before it will be my first time lol.
24th works fine if you plan to cover it with carpet. If you want to paint or stain then use a 44 or 60th blade to avoid splintering.

Good advice. I just have a rough cut blade on my saw and had some minor splintering. Once I sand it a bit it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Also, depending on the number of teeth the feed speed may need to change if you are not going to wrap it in something. Birch can "burn" and leave some very nasty darkened areas that will show up in varnish.

Holes Cut:

They aren't the roundest holes I've ever cut but the subs fit very snugly. Actually ended up cutting them twice because the cutout info I had was wrong so on the second pass around to open them up a bit they became a little rough. At this point its ready to drop the subs in so I can get a good listen while I decide how exactly I wanna finish this or if it even sounds how I want. Subs should be here tomorrow hopefully

Subs are here and installed!!! :

One sub isn't tilted quite as much as the other sub so they don't really match. Going to fix that once I actually finish this off:

So far I am very satisfied with these subs. They seem to play everything I've thrown at them very well. Whether it be the low lows or higher bass they seem to produce all the notes well IMO. Smooth sound to them. Going to continue to beat on them for a few days and let them loosen up a bit and see if they start to sound any different at all but as of right now I am pretty much liking everything about this setup which is a real rarity for me. Gotta start thinking about how to finish this bad boy off now.

Turned out really nice! Personally, I love the look of stained birch. Also, I think they have "color" stain which can look nice too. I have yet to see anyone disappointed with the Skar subs. Pretty nice daily subs imo.

Thanks a lot man. Always been a bit afraid to post up some of my box builds . Got a lot of sanding and filling to do yet but I am definitely leaning towards a stain of some sort. Not really sure what all is really out there . Going to have to take a trip to home depot/menards to take a look
