SPL #'s on JL w7's

I had 4 jlw1s 12's on 400 watts do 149 so something was wrong there.

I saw 4 jlw3s 12's do 163 in 251-500 watt class outlaw

What are you on, Sir?

JL's aren't known for spl but are great for sq. There are louder subs available for cheaper. But in the right box they can get loud.

TommyK did 150 with 1 10" Type S...so no...the W7's prob won't be louder

Obviously it has nothing to do with the speaker he uses. Tommy could put an Xplod in his truck, build a couple boxes, and do upper 140s. He just knows how to build loud stuff.

The W7 is in a class with subs such as the RE XXX, RE MX, Fi Q, MTX 9500, etc. Just a sub that sounds good and gets loud.

A 13W7 for $350 isnt a bad deal at all. For what you're getting Id say thats a pretty good deal actually.

Back to the original topic, sort of... I believe the w7 is a great performer still, but its price tag is simply not realistic when compared to competing drivers. JL use to argue the sub was completely proprietary, every piece was designed and made by them, which costs extra money (design, tooling, etc). Im confident in saying JL payed for their tooling and start-up costs on this driver long ago. So why, if JL is not riding on their laurels and profiting simply off their market prowess and name recognition, have they never reduced the price of the W7 line? Its not necessarily bad business, but its hard to argue JL doesn't artificially inflate prices on at least some of their items.

i dont know if rules changed but mic was not allowed in the port. like i said it was 11yrs ago.

Im no expert on SPL competition, but I know many forms of 'outlaw' have placed the mic in the port even inside the enclosure in the past.

11 years ago meters were COMPLETELY different. I totally believe the score.

11 yewars ago they used meters that sucked ***.

Outlaw is usually referred to as meter in the kick w/ doors allowed to be open.
