SPL #'s on JL w7's

Everyone keeps saying the Type R is capable of being louder, and use burp scores to prove it. Great, the R can handle more power while burping at tuning, but how does this really equate to music in the real world? Truth is the W7 has gobs more displacement potential than does a Type R, and in a transient music situation, there would likely be no contest.

I really have to wonder how many of you think a TL score is the end-all answer.

Im not convinced the rs will handle more power while purping.. Even still, I would take the w7s over the rs any day of the week without a doubt.. Burp scores dont mean much to me, how loud they play on music is another thing, and the w7 has more potential simply put like you said.. The w7 is a much better driver reguardless of what many want to think, and Ide take it over many other drivers, despite the pricetag..

Just saw this thread, with a single 13 i did a 149 something.

Was off 1500w in a 2.8 tuned to 38 in my hatch.

And it was at the dash and i believe an AC meter.

Assuming you mean burping, i was not meaning to say an R will handle more power. I was just using it as an example.

Daily, no.

If that was in a low tuned box built for daily listening, then that's a pretty good score. If it was tuned high and shooting for spl, then not so much...

how could you say that a score in the upper 150's isnt impressive?

pretty sure i saw a comparison on here where the dub7 had higher SPL numbers on the lower frequencies than the RE MT, BTL, and XXX. it was louder on a wider range of frequencies too.

I had 4 jlw1s 12's on 400 watts do 149 so something was wrong there.

I saw 4 jlw3s 12's do 163 in 251-500 watt class outlaw

since he was in my class and beat me with a 163 it is true. wish i could prove it.
