Speakers stopped working??

One day I got in my car and my head unit was on but I'm getting no sound. I thought this was really weird. My car is a Monte carlo and has a factory amp hooked to the speakers and haven't had a problem before. I had my amp for my sub hooked up and I normally have a sub hooked up but I don't have one hooked up at the moment. So I thought this might have interfered for some reason and unhooked it. Nothing different. I hooked it back up the next day just cause and bam my speakers started working again! So later I drove my car and it worked at first then faded out to nothing then came back in as static then back to normal. When I got back in the car later I got no sound then after driving it faded in and out a few times. I find this really strange. I'm thinking it could be either a head unit or factory amp problem... Maybe something came loose behind the dash?? IDK if someone has a suggestion or anything please let me know!!

pics of how you tapped the factory wires to get a signal for the sub?

i suspect a slight short in those connections which is giving the factory amp fits.
