Speakers pulsing?!

I have a 2007 frontier with 1 fsd 125.4, saz1000.1, mechman 270 HO alt and big three.

HO alt has been installed about 3 weeks as I await for my box build for a sundown x-10.

Today I went to lunch and on my way my speakers started sounding weird, then started to static like the am radio stations when on wrong channels. Sub sounded clear and since I had the vol low (12 of 27) I did not pay mind to it.

After eating and on my way back to work, the sound started after a few minutes of driving. After 2-3 minutes of the am static sound, the sound went off and everything started pulsing. 3-4 minutes later I arrived at work, parked and started to smell the smell of burnt. All doors smell burnt, no smoke and I have not tested to see if I have sound yet.

Glanced and pulled at my amp wires, they all seem fine. Could this be an alt issue? Prior to alt/big3 at alt I have had this setup as is for about 2 yrs.

Here is a picture of my wires at the Battery Positive. Black wire is Atl power, brown is my sub power and blue is my highs power. The design of my truck needs to have the square fuse as is and I could not fit all 3 copper plugs with the factory fuse so I ran the highs of the sub wire as shown.

Could this be an issue or its unrelated?

Upon further inspection, I noticed the lower set of wires to amp highs was melted (run to rear driver side). Swapped speaker, noise. Disconnected rear driver side and noise stopped. rewired speaker so rear-driver (signal from rear passenger at the amp)... noise. Placed rear driver speaker on rear passenger output with no speaker on rear driver... No noise.

I believe my run along the rear driver side is broken/torn/distorted so tomorrow I will replace both rear speaker runs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sounds to me like you Clipped the hell out of you front speakers and Fried them/over powered them, and more than likely settings not set properly for Xover section.Lets take 100 rms set of components with external xovers..You place 125 rms on them over a period of time and those crossovers anre heating up daily?banging theyre azzes off..Caps are overheated and finally fail just as your settings on the amplifier not set properly..35 htz set to 65htz set of mids wont last long as well as sound like azz,and over powered= TRASH/Fried.Id get rid og that AGU fuse under the hood and get an ANL placed.

I would have to say a loose connection someplace, bad ground. Or even bad RCA's.

Either above, I would go over your wiring/connections. Make sure everything is good and tight, free of corrosion.

There are times that one amplifier will rob the majority of the electrical supply for the demand and tax the other resulting in low output and eventually result to failure/or damaging that amplifier due to low voltage. You should have plenty of supply , yet, it sure seems like that single battery may not be keeping up with the demand for your vehicle needs along with your audio wants/needs/supply

I took out my rear 6x9s and played them individually, each sound good and read 4ohm on a mm. I do not have components, straight amp to 6x9. Rear is 2 pioneer 5 way coaxel and front is 2 xs 6x9 image dynamics. Something is up with my wiring so I am running new 12ga knukonceptz as we speak. Im just going to run new wire to all 4 speakers. The current wire I have assuming basic 16ga from a local shop. Also noticed my rear passenger side has this nice 16ga from amp to door but stock wire from 6x9 to door. Luckily I purchased like 30 extra feet of 12ga for my brother.

I do plan to replace the pioneers soon.

You could be correct on the xover as I am not sure how to set it. I'll take a look once I finish wiring everything but I usually set everything with med bass from mid. I let my sub do the lows.

(just looked at xover, its on FULL for mids and Lows is set to Low)

Sorry for the late reply, I thought I would receive a notification if someone replied to my thread. I just use my home page which is the F/S section:nerd:

Im pretty sure my battery is good. It is an XS power 3400d

Not a bad ground and not bad rcas. I have no static noise and amps grounded to chasis about 1.5' away. I believe its my wiring from the shop I used a couple years ago. Maybe just old wire, who knows.

Wow... what a headache!.. I'd like to see the power wire runs as you described in the other thread... I can't seem to visualize how you describe it.

Well... did all my wires. Drove around for 5 minutes and BOOM! AM static sound once again. Pulled over and unplugged rear driver 6x9. Drove around for at least 15 min and no issues.

Took out 6x9 and it reads .02 ohms. Turned off all channels and played this speaker, sounds fine. Even has mids (same sound and volume as read passenger). Put MM on rear passenger and it reads 3.9 ohms.

Can a bad speaker read under 1 ohm and still sound good?

I am assuming I need a new set of rear speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

On my way to work and it made the sound again. I unplugged the rear driver speaker at the amp and drove like this for about 1 hr yesterday, no issues. This morning it did it for a brief time and over a small bump on the fwy it stopped.

Any ideas as to where or what it could be? Something I could test?

This usually indicates a loose connection some place.

I cant see where it might be, I assume the same but I am legit stuck on where else to look. Ill check out wires @the HU today. I love audio but sometimes its annoying af! lol
