Hi,

I have a 91 Honda Civic Hatchback, and want to change its speakers. I am really a rookie so I know nothing about sound systems. Only thing I know is that the sound is not good in my car. I dont have much money, actually after reading other messages (with a budget of 2000$)I realized that I dont have any money:) I just wanna spend 70-80$ just to make the sound a little bit better.

The audio shop that I went today gave me 75$ price to install 6.5" audiobahn speakers. I would really appreciate if anyone tell me what I should do or what I can do with that much of money...

Thanks

You have 6.5's in your front doors and rear side panels, right ?

If you're just looking at dropping in some aftermarket speakers for a reasonable price to just increase the sound quality, there are many many options out there.

For a mere $170, you can get two pairs (four 6.5" speakers) to replace your stock ones ... a respectable brand, too - Infinity.

There's cheaper options ... such as Kenwood, Alpine, etc.

You can also spend your whole budget on one nice set for up front and leave nothing in the back.

Will you be using an aftermarket head unit or no ? Adding an amp or no ?

If your budget is $80, I would spend the $80 on one pair of 6.5" 2-way coaxial speakers and put them in the front doors.

I may use amp if i can find a cheap one. My stereo system is the original am-fm cassete player that honda civic has.

Thanks

Those are the ones I would look at.

If possible, take a listen at Circuit City or some other local car audio shop ... they'll most likely have the Alpines and Pioneers for you to listen to, to get the idea of what they sound like - remember, a car's acoustics differ from a sound board/room's acoustics.

In my opinion, your best bet would be the CDT's ... thats a great deal. Remember, just my opinion.

Oh, and speaker / speaker system ... probably refering to speaker system = component set ... component sets consist of a seperate tweeter and midrange speaker, and a crossover. Usually a little bit more expensive, and definetely work best with an amplifier pushing them.

out of those the cdt's would probably be your best bet, in my opinion pioneers speaker ****, and i wasn't impressed with the type-s's either. Check out ebay for some infinity references, i think you will be very happy with them. Should be able to get them around 50-60 a pair.

Thezeb is very dependable ... I just got my order from them today, and thats even coming to Canada //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

They are very easy to install yourself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif [Heres how to remove your front speakers - http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalHondaCivic5FSpk.htm]

Hello again,

I received CDT speakers, but I have a problem! I doesn't fit to the car. It is a little bit big. However I placed the speakers with only one screw to test the sound. It is still bad, shaky, and there are a lot of distortion.

What would u reccomend me to do?

Thanks...

Well first with one screw it is probably vibrating, and it is also not sealed off, so it will sound like shit, also if you have the bass turned up on your really high that will distort them. You may need to get bass blockers, 6.5s usually have lots of trouble below 50hz so if you're playing lots of rap that will distort them, subs are the answer to that. To make the speakres fit better make some brackets out of wood, mdf is soft and cuts very easily.

OK. I'll fix the speakers with some wooden brackets. BTW I dont listen to rap. even when playing classical music, there is this creaking sound. Can it be something related to power? (adapter vs)

I fixed the sound problem by using wooden brackets, but do u think problems ended:) NO! Window can only be opened halfway. I think speakers are so deep that they prevent opening of the windiws...
