Speakers For Corrola - Upgrade

Basicly i am new to Car audio, I just got a Toyota Corrola for free, The speakers are blown to the max, Im looking to hook this ***** up.

Sure i got a 96 corrola, but i still wanna show people whats up :]

I was wondering what kinda of speakers I should put in,

Front speaker size - 4 (Depth 2)

Rear Speaker size - 6.5 (depth 3)

I got about 300 to spend,

Looking for the Loudest/Clearest

Somthing that will make a statement :]

Gimme your recomentations,

Do i need an AMP?

What brands?

For Christmas i was just gonna spend my money on a some Subs....

cut the hole to fit 6.5" components and yes if you want to make a statement you will need an amp.

Okay, Is there a certain way your supposed to have the amp set up? for instance, a 800W amp, and 2x 300w speakers, Do you want to over power it or under?

If i over power it will it blow them?

If i under power it will it not be loud?

overpower for headroom. Adjust the gain accordingly so that you dont "overpower" the speakers. Check your pm as well.

You can get a Big amp and set your gain to anything less then its actual rating, so get an amp that is a few steps up from what your speakers rms rating is

Yeah sorry "steps" isnt a rating //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Like if your speakers can handle 150w rms get an amp that can do around 200w rms because usually amps are rated at 14.4v but most cars never have 14.4v so that lowers your rms potential ie a 200w rms amp rated at 14.4v wouldnt be 200w rms @ 12v
