Speaker wire length a concern?

Is there going to be any interferance with longer speaker wire? I have got an extra 10 ft. of speaker wire between the box and amp and was wondering if there was any loss in sound with this much wire?

Is it wise to cut it shorter or is it alright to leave it as is and hide it?

longer = more resistance..

keep all wires as short as possible

Thanks, I figured as much. I planned on shortening the speaker wire as much as possible whenever I figured out how I'm going to have everything situated in my trunk.

How thick is the wire? It really shouldn't be that big of a problem, but as more_spl said, shorter is always better.

well it is 10 feet of speaker... so if you coil it up it will be a pretty good sized antenne for engine noise

It's 10 guage speaker wire. I just have it laying in the trunk until I decide what I'm going to do with it, but I've had absolutely NO engine noise thus far.

none that you can tell

audiophiles can hear all the least distortion but for you the extra wire doesnt do anything bad to how the system sounds. The only thing is looks...if you take it out to show people and there is a nice neat short wire there that is just the right length it just looks more professional

Well, as I said, I will be shortening it once I decided what I was going to do with it all...just didn't want to harm anything in the process, or ruin performance.

If it's 10 AWG it shouldn't make a difference....although I'd still make it shorter.
