I'm planning on replacing the speakers to get a little better SQ over the stock I don't really want to spend too much money because I am not a huge audiophile or anything I am just sick of the the crappy stock speakers. I am pretty sure the 5.25" kick panel speakers are blown. The 4" speakers from the rear deck lid are removed.

Would getting a set of component 5.25" with a 1" tweeter put in the door panel run off my Alpine 9856 head unit be sufficient? I know it won't be able to produce a lot of bass I am just looking to have decent clean sound that I can turn up on the freeway without distortion. Would adding a small amp make a huge difference. Also there is a 3" mid in the door panel, should I bother with replacing that.

Please give me some ideas on brands, specs etc. I am pretty clueless when it comes to car audio.

Thanks.
