speaker short question

Ok, my main speaker wire is connected to the component mid and the mid works just fine until i connect the tweeter wire terminals together, when i do that the whole speaker shorts and it loses all power. Question is, why did this happen and how can i fix it.

Could it be a bad tweeter?

test the impedance of everything. then you'll know if there is a dead short.

what is a dead short?

it only happens on one speaker, the other one works fine with the tweeter

i want to know what a DEAD!!!! short is? Never heard that before.

when you put the dmm on the pos and neg you shoud have a number around 3 if you have a big number it is shorted out open no good

A dead short mean's you have zero resistance...

yes if you set u r dmm to ohms test across the tweeter leads and it shows nothing it shorted out or open
