I'm using a modified guitar amp to use as a processor for some Pioneer Co-Axials I got from an install I did a while back, the person didn't want them anymore.
They're nominal @ 40 watts, with 4 ohm coils. The amp itself is supposed to put out 15 watts @ 4-ohms. I know it's stable @ 2-ohms, since I messed with it before. So I might wire them in parallel* and get the amp down to 2-ohms. Not sure what power the drivers are seeing at that point. But it sounds pretty sloppy. So I might just keep it at 4.
DISCLAIMER:: This is NOT in any respect supposed to be a 'serious' build for 'teh dope soundz!' I have real speakers for that. This is purely for entertainment purposes. and to use my new table saw. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
The design:
A simple enclosure for the speakers with the amp sitting ontop with an enclosure to protect it and make it look pretty. 45 degree angled cuts to make it nice and flowing.
The DRIVERSS
LoOk at that magnet!!!!
The amp (I have the knobs... I think):
Amp Internals:
After this, the amp will still be able to act as a guitar amp. I'm not sure how well the speakers will sound. I'm sure they'll do fine.
Build pictures will come when I start.
I'm only using ish I have already. (Only thing I'll be purchasing is wood glue, but that's 'cause I have to.) This is going to be made out of a scrap sheet of 3/8" Ply I had laying around. I haven't done the math to see if I have enough wood. Let's hope.
I also might buy grill clothe depending on how well the build comes.
