when you figure out how much cuft you need, do you subtract the volume the speaker takes up?

I want 2 kickers L7 12" in sealed box, with about 2 cuft each, do i need a box that is actually about 5 cuft to make up for size of speakers?

You need to add the displacement of the subs and ports (if used) to the volume of the enclosure. Look for a displacement measurement on the spec sheet of the sub.

so i have a dimesion of 17tall X 36 wide X 15 deep.

The internal dimesions with 3/4" MDF are 15.5 X 34.5 X 13.5

It adds up to about 4.18 cuft.

The displacement for each sub is .087 cuft. That .18 cuft roughly.

So are there any other factors or do i correctly have it layed out to have 4 cuft total?
