Soundwedge speaker wiring

I have a soundwedge for my jeep, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. The soundwedge has 1 place to connect your wires into the back of it, bu the tweets and woofers are in different locations. Here are what they look like:

I have several questions:

-Would these be coaxial or component speakers?

-If they are coaxial, how would it filter the highs from the woofers and lows from tweeters?

-If I were to replace these speakers, what kind should I use?

-Would it possible for me to buy a coaxial speaker, take the tweeter and mount it away from the woofer as shown in this box?

Im not very knowledgeable about car audio, so please be patient and explain it like I was a 3 year old. Thanks.

As there is no mention of a crossover module being incorporated into this setup I'm not certain, unfortunately. Being that they are Jensen drivers, however, I would suggest that in the long run your best bet would be to replace them when time/budget allows. Jensen is tolerable on a budget but they unfortunately simply do not make quality drivers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

The same way all other coaxial speakers do - there isn't anything keeping the very low lows out of the woofer unless you externally high-pass filter them via HU processing, crossover in the amp driving them, etc. The filtering for the tweeter is likely accomplished through cheap resistors.

If I were to replace these speakers, what kind should I use?
Whatever sounds best to your ears that fits into your budget. There is no single "best" speaker or speakers available. Too many variable exist to make a definitive answer.

Would it possible for me to buy a coaxial speaker, take the tweeter and mount it away from the woofer as shown in this box?
Only if the coaxials in question are what is known as a 'convertible' system wherein the option exists to mount them all-in-one as a coaxial or mount the tweeter separate like you would in a component speaker setup. You won't be able to just go buy any old set of coaxials and remove the tweeter from them to remote mount them.
