Soundqubed HDS215

i dont get what you are asking?

do you simply want verification if a ported will be louder? yes of course. in the region to which you tune it will peak but you lose bandwidth. sealed has more bandwidth but is not as loud.

IB has more bandwidth than sealed, but still not as loud as ported. Going back to ported after trying IB for the second time.

I've done sealed, IB, and ported. Ported is the best. If enclosure space is what you're wanting to save, then get a smaller sub.

you are entering it wrong
Well, I entered every parameter that soundqubed had. Double checked units and values, but I'll try again later.

I was expecting to see more than 2 to 3 db increase over sealed. Thats all. Which made me wonder if hassling with a port was even worth it.

You have to hit tab on thebkeyboard after entering each value and let the program autocalculate values or else its not going to work. You also need to make sure the units of measurement matches exactly.

exactly what i was thinking. heres a quick example

I re-downloaded WINisd and this time the input box is much more simple. Anyway, it worked fine, and spit out the same info as the first post. Says 3dB improvement from roughly 30Hz to 60Hz. Also says a 4" port is in the green... for what that's worth.

Jeffdachef, when you compared sealed with ported, did any other variables change? Was box size the same for both?

It was a local craigslist guy with 1.5 cubic feet sealed for each hds212 he had 2 on kicker 1500. Was unimpressive and poor low end extension, most likely the reason why he was selling. An hds 210 in a T-line sounded more impressive than his 2 12s in a sealed. A few cities away there was a kid with an hds215 in a 4 cubic feet ported box tuned to 32hz and it was very musical and hits a lot more notes both high and low cleanly and was worlds louder than the 2 12s sealed.

Alright then. I'll still try for the largest box I'm comfortable with, which could be near 4 cubes after port displacement.

So, here are some possibilities tuned 32Hz

4 cubes and 4" dia port flared

3.7 cubes and 6" port flared

Which would be better with 500 watts? The WINisd gives the 4" port a green rating.

You need to check the rear port velocity tab and make sure its under 100 ft per second. I dont see that happening with a 4"

I don't have that tab. Under port, there's just diameter to adjust, and a port match number, which turns red when the port size is small enough. Maybe a different version?
