soundqubed 2200.1 shutting down

Just thinking , take a short piece of wire and run form amp poss over to amp turn on and see if it shuts off ? Easy and cheap way to test

thats a good idea, ill try that out probably tonight

i have the amp out of the car right now, and im not trying to be argumentative with that other guy, but is 0 gauge really a necessity?

Who did the repair?
Those amps should be rock solid >1 ohm.

I think #4 gauge cable is inadequate unless its a very short run.
SoundQubed themselves did the repair. The general consensus of 4 gauge being inadequate is sadly making me thingk that ill have to spend $100+ on some 0 gauge. Per SoundQubed's recommendation, i took the back cover off and sent them some closeups of the inside and they said that they want to look at it again, so yeah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i know that KnuConcept is probably the way to go for the power wire, and qualms from the group about that choice?

https://www.wireandsupply.com/category_s/57.htm way cheaper and would be perfect for your application. It good quality and bends fine. I am using it and got no complaints.

Don't know why your not wanting to change the wiring to 1/0 type. You shouldn't be into car audio then. It takes power to make power. If it does accept it then make that happen. Otherwise, you could be "limiting" the amps current status.

Same thing with the big 3. 1/0 4 gauge just isn't gonna cut it.

im hearing ya loud and clear man, but i dont think that i dont belong in car audio. Thank you for the link to the wiring! I just built a computer for someone, i now have some spare cash for the upgrade. Its all about the money at this point, Im a family man raising 2 kids, house payment etc etc etc and i have been constantly upgrading my stereo as funds allow, and i was just hoping that the OFC 4 gauge would cut it, i guess i was wrong. Ill upgrade and get the amp fixed and see whats up from there. I need my bumps back LoL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yup I feel ya. I'm in the very same boat.....Mortgage, 2 kids to raise, I'm the main bread winner here and I can barely make it by w/o any extra hours. In fact, it doe4sn't look like We'll be going on vacation this year due to lack of funds. 1st time in a long time too.

Ummm... How is your gain set on the amplifier?

These amps can take a beating but if you're clipping hard at 4ohm your voltage is going to suffer horribly and that 4g wire won't pass enough current.

Switching amps won't do anything. The soundqubed is a very stout amp.

It's like blowing thru a tiny straw. You can only push so much. Should've def went with 1/0 ga ofc in the first place, would've saved you money and headaches. You could've even went with welding wire which is much cheaper. I had that same amp for like 2 years and I had 1/0 ga Knu cca and it worked but I knew I was still limiting it's potential from not getting 1/0 ofc in the first place. Amp never cut off on me tho.

another reason why i hadnt got 1/0 gauge is the 4x$1350 tickets to Romania we have already purchased for our summer vacation. Tradeoffs i guess

Im outputting 4 volts from the poineer deck in my sig, so i have the gain set at around a scosche less than 1/3 as full is indicated as 0.5 v and min is 5 volts. I know that the newer pioneer decks can be misleading about how much voltage they actually output, but i was figuring that this was a safe area to have it set at, and i told soundqubed's tech support that this is where i had it set at, and they had no qualms with this. Matter of fact, when i sent it in both times, i left the gain exactly where i had it and told them this so they could check it out for themselves and they seemed ok with it. Anyways, i know what youre talking about with the voltage regarding gain vs push from the amp, and had considered this as the problem too, hence why i was fighting so hard against the gauge of power wiring not being the culprit. Many thanks for your input!!!

im starting to think that there might even be a short in the h/u or something man... im just grasping at straws with that, but man... its seriously frustrating

Did you ever verify the amp remote wire is not dropping voltage causing amp to turn off ? Bad hu or bad connection ? Thats why I said to grab a scrap piece of wire and connect it from amp 4 gauge possitive to the remote on the amp and that will tell you where to go next. I will be around today if you need help PM me.

not yet as i live in south dakota and old man winter has been having his way with mother nature intermittently along with weekend engagements with family and so forth, but i have not forgotten about this and i do think its a great idea. I also plan on getting the requisite amount of 1/0 to replace all the 4 gauge in my car as that also sounds like the thing to do as a whole with the power the 2200 pushes

Wow I bet it's cold there bro ! Ya it's an easy way to tell what's going on , if it stays on just trace down your remote wire for bad connections all they way to Hu and check it to make sure voltage is constant. If it still shuts off you do have an amp problem . Either way imho you need 0 gauge anyway even if you replace amp but I hear good things about that amp so if need be I would get it repaired and keep it .
