soundqubed 2200.1 shutting down

So, ive asked about this before, so i apologize if this seems spammy, but the SQ 2200.1 is back from repairs and is now shutting down again. So, i put a multimeter on each coil of my subs and theyre registering a consistent 1.9 ohms on all 4, got it wired up to 4 ohms (well, 3.8) on each, then paired back down to 2 at the amp. I have installed a 180 amp alternator (i know that the amp can draw 200, but its all i could afford for the alternator), got OFC 4 gauge memphis power and ground. Big 3 done and dremeled all the ground point sto make sure that theyre all a solid connection. Battery is fairly new and tests as working very well. All my speaker wire is all monster 12 gauge (i think) and is connected very solidly. Im at a loss as to whats going wrong with the amp. Im not pushing it very hard and the amp keeps failing. I know i should have 1/0 gauge, but if im not pushing it very hard, is that really necessary? Is the 4 gauge the culprit? I have the amp mounted on the back of the box, so, its getting some vibration, but ive always mounted my amps on the back of the box. Ideas would be more than welcome here. Thanks guys, i appreciate the knowledge you have and share!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

When you say shutting down are we talking protect down? If so could be a low voltage situation. Those amps can get power hungry. I had a 2200 ran by a 270a alt, optima yellow top upfront, and a xs d1200 in the back and at full tilt it would drop to 13.2v at the amp.

it just shuts off entirely. i have to turn the radio off then turn it back on for the amp to turn back on. The protect light doesnt turn on on the amp, it just goes dead. Ive checked the remote wire too. All is well there. I havent clamp tested it as i dont have a clamp tester, just a multimeter. Its so perplexing :/

Yes ditch it. Too much people are turning to crappy budget amps because supposedly "a watt is a watt". Here's why they should not.

Nice vid about the amp:

Thats the unfortunate conclusion im drawing as well. How do you feel about sundown audio?

No thats incorrect.

Some people state that DD is the "parent" company, but that isnt really correct either. I believe a dad owns 1 and a son owns the other. Something like that

Use your multi meter on remote turn on wire at the amp and watch voltage until it turns off - maybe what ever you have amp remote wire hooked too is loosing power ? if its hooked to head unit maybe hu is bad ? I bet its not even an amp problem. I am here if you need help just PM me

I like how OP is blaming the amp for his problems. That's a popular amp and no one has had issues with those amps...except you. You said your running 4 gauge to the amp and admitted you know it and wondered if you should be running 1/0 gauge. That should be a no brainer. If the amp accepts it, why not use it? To me your just wasting $$ repairing said amp over and over again. But hey, its your $$ not mine.

If it were me, I would seriously take a step back, rethink this whole situation and make it right, taking suggestions on here.

Go over your connections, recheck everything. Ditch that 4 gauge, and use the 1/0 gauge wiring.

You stated the big 3 is done, but how big of wiring did you use for it?

ill do that and reach out if it gets to that point. Thanks man!!

Dude, Im not directly blaming the amp. As you can see, im mainly blaming the wiring. The big 3 i did was all with the same OFC 4 gauge. But is that seriously the issue if im not running it too hard? The amp is an animal, and im really quite fond of it and the violence it has. I just want to solve this riddle without spending $100+ on ot gauge.

and the dc not owning soundqubed thing, thats cool. i wasnt aware and wasnt trying to insinuate anything. Just a conversation topic

Just thinking , take a short piece of wire and run form amp poss over to amp turn on and see if it shuts off ? Easy and cheap way to test
