Sound with windows down

SO wut if you did a comp with yur windows open, would you meter higher?

it depends on your car but almost always the answer is yeah.. this is illegal though in DB drag style comps. i think its something to do with standing waves in your car causing cancellation.. the windows down/doors open thing just helps get rid of standing waves and increases spl in your car.

correct me if im wrong

I've also heard the pressure in the car helps keep a constant pressure on the cone of the sub, helping take some boom out of the bass as well as get rid of some noises associated with an eratic cone. But i don't have anythin gto back that up, just hear say i thought was interesting.

ya with the windows up there's a seal and air isnt able to get out of the car as easily...with the windows down that air can more freely move in and out of the car putting less stress on the sub, thus the sub will be able to displace the air easier and in turn you'll maybe notice a small increase in SPL......

now granted this is all dependant of the install...with some cars this wont happen as noticable..some cars it will be signifigant...with my xxx15 it's noticable......but man that thing moves ALOT of air......
