sound splinter

ss subs have very good build quality, your not going to go wrong with ss. Btw, the rl-s needs a very big box and are a little salty price wise.

also I mentioned that this is going to be a sq setup, but if I seal the box will these rl-i's still bump pretty well, and if I port the box will these still sound really good, what would you suggest sealed or ported

I also here that there build quality is kinda poor is that true
Who ever told you that is flat out making up lies to push other product. SS subs have been top notch from day one, and still are today. You don't have to ask me, ask all the people who own them and play them hard everyday of the week.

The RL-i subs are made to be versatile, if you want more output port them. Either way they have proven to be a great all around sub for daily needs. Not breaking any records or what ever, but does a great job with mid power installs.

I vote SS all the way. I was running 2 15's ported and the SQ was excellent. 1 12 or 15 ported, tuned low for a flat response should have excellent SQ and solid output. Mike @ SS is a GREAT guy to deal with. Mine had best SQL @ 32Hz.

RL-P's are in the HT now and still sounding excellent and thumping out MAJOR lows during movies.

I've only owned: Tempest, HD315, Q 15 and the RL-P had the best SQ IMO, not that any of them sound bad. RL-P just seemed a little tighter/more accurate, but that really won't matter if you just listen to modern rap. I play a lot of 80's metal, funk, old school hip/hop and it sounded good on all of it.

I love SS. They're products are excellent. Build quality is real solid. You should email Mike, if you haven't yet. You'll see how nice of a guy he is. I still feel bad about selling my rl-p, but someday I'm gonna buy some 18s from 'em.

I'm sure the rl-i's sound great, but I've never heard 'em. Personally though, I would go with a 15" rl-p sealed for rock music. Pick up a ~1200 W amp, set your gains accordingly, and you should be set. And if your girlfriend wants to listen to some rap or some shit, the rl-p will impress.

Just adding another vote for SoundSplinter.

I've had an RL-p 12, an RL-p 18, and two 8" prototypes. All magnificent woofers. I even had one autographed.

Mike deserves your business, he's a good man.
