Sound Splinter RL-i-10

I'm looking to buy a Sound Splinter RL-i -10" sub very soon. I'm planning on sealing the box for pure sound qualiy.I'm just not sure how big to make it.

I just want here some opinions on how big to go and how the sub will sound in a sealed box...

What kind of sound can I expect to get from this?

I don't listen to any rap/hip-hop at all so I don't want loud boomy bass..I trust that 1cube? would not give me that?

I would take a TC-1000 sealed over an RL-i sealed. The RL-i has a pretty high F3 and is really more suited for ported enclosures.

The link you sent me in teh PM gave these:

Butterworth / Sealed

0.21 cu ft net volume

Quasi Bessel / Sealed

0.75 cu ft net volume

Enhanced Q / Sealed

0.094 cu ft net volume

What will the variations in sound be if I make the box 1 cu ft instead of .75 cu ft?

I suspect the sub will have less output but be a little more accurate..

So what do you guys have to say about the RL-i being better suited for ported enclousers?

(Remeber I'm not going for output just clean, crisp and accurate bass)

If you want pure sound quality and tight bass, I would go with an Image Dynamics IDQ over the RL-i.

Those are some **** nice sounding subs and one would work very well in .7-1.0 sealed.

I thought you just said you would take a tc-1000 over the RLI?

Can you compare the 3 subs?

The TC-1000 is very similar to the RL-i but more suited for sealed applications than the RL-i. The IDQ is one of the best sounding sub I have ever heard and had a better presence than the RL-i that I heard in .5 sealed. The IDQ will not be as loud though.

Alright, I know I said I don't care about output but theres a certain point where that stops lol..I don't have the money to get subs either..

Do you think the IDQ would be loud enough to atleast keep up with my components (Boston Pro 60's/JL 300/2 amp)??

There is no way to tell. If you're worried you might be lacking output, the tc-1000 would probably be the better option.
