Sound on Speed Bumps

Lately I have been hearing some sounds coming from my subs that I know shouldnt be happening. Whenever I hit a bump of any kind, and sometimes when Im just driving on flat road, i hear my subs playing when the music isnt or when the bass isnt hitting. Actually, earlier i was driving downa really bumpy road and it got so bad that my amp went into protect mode.

I read on here somewhere that when the subs hit on a non existent note that the subsonic filter is too low, but i turned mine up and it is still doing it. Im out of ideas so if someone could shed some light on my problem that would be great..

Speaking of speed bumps, I hit one pretty hard! Not fun when your cars low and the bump is high.

I would check the grounds and rca's. Could be some type of ground loop. I had a similar problem with my subs, until I grounded my head units rca outs. Amp going into protect is a whole 'nother monster though.

Since you say it happens only when you it a bump in the road I would guess a loose connection somewhere. Check all of your power and speaker connections. Make sure everything is tight and nothing is close enough to touch something that it shouldn't.

i had the same problem when i went over bumps, it was my ground bolt loose, loose enough so the ring terminal slid up and down the bolt and caused the noise. Tightened it down and was mint.

k, just went and looked at the ground. This is actually the first time I have seen where the ground is at. I didnt install my system because i got it a year ago and i didnt know much about car audio. I had a local shop do it. So far, almost everything they have done has been poorly done. Well this is no different, i followed the wire under my back seat to the middle of a sheet of metal. The connection was secure, but the ring that the wire was attached to had the wire sticking out and touching the metal. Im going to fix the wire and ring and wrap in in electrical tape. Hopefully that helps...

Although I dont know too much about good places to ground, I have always heard of people grounding to bolts, Ive never heard of grounding in the middle of a sheet of metal. And i would think that under the seat it would get mvoed around and beat up.. who knows

well its still doin it, but its only with the back seat down. (amp is mounted on the seat) should it be doing that? should i leave the seat up?

my wife had the same problem in her car. In her case hte rca cables went bad. replaced them and was good as new. try running a new set over the seats fromt the radio to the amp and see if that helps.
