Sound Deadening: Dynamat VS Second Skin?

im looking for some sound deadening material for my 03 VW Jetta. i wanna keep more sound in the car, get rid of interior rattles, and also i believe it also acts as a heat shield. i plan on doing just the doors. So i was looking at Dynamat Xtreme Door Kit, $50-$90 for 12 sq ft. then my good buddy Henry (aka GSteg) suggests Second Skin Damplifier, $66 for 50 sq ft. this seems like an amazing deal and so i was wondering how they compare to the other. thanks!

well u should do a search on the forum for the exact question....but basicly the preform the same....the second skin is much cheaper....i have 12 sq ft on my front doors and i was able to apply 2 layers on my doors.....there are several reviews on this board on the second skin product.....enjoy

Stick with the Damplifier and install multiple layers (two or more if you want).

Or you could upgrade to DampX. Costs a little more, works that much better.

Dynamat is just too expensive. They both work well, though.

And drop that $66 for Damplifier down to $50

Dynamat extreme is roughly 2-3 times as effective as the standard asphalt-based items on the market- so if a person is more concerned with weight in their vehicle, then the added cost may prove worthwhile to them...
