Hey guys

Planning on Deadening my 2001 Honda civic mainly because my 4 12's are rattling the rear deck like crazy. I plan on doing the entire trunk, rear deck, and two front doors. My question is which deadener should i go with Audio Technix or Second Skin Damplifier?

With the 15% off from Audio tech and only 7.5% from Second Skin i can get audio technix 80 mil for the price of regular damplifier. If i did go with the 80 mil would i see a big difference from the 60 mil? Because if 60 mil will do the job of stopping the rattle then i would rather save the money and go with the 60 mil.

Also how much deadner will i need? Can i get away with 75 sq feet or should i get 100? there is a small portion where my rear view mirror is that needs to be deadened also.

Thanks

75 sq ft should be more than enough as long as you don't go way over board. Acoustical wise Audio Technix 60 and Second Skin Damplifier preform the exact same.

The acoustical test results can be found here:

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/audio-technix/521746-audio-technix-60-mil-vs-second-skin-damp-acoustical-test-results-inside.html

Audio Technix 60 Specs and Price:

60 mil thick total

4 mil aluminum

Butyl Adhesive

$2.36 per sq ft plus shipping when you buy 25 sq ft

Second Skin Audio Damplifier Specs and Price:

40 mil thick total

6.5 mil aluminum

Butyl Adhesive

$3.5 a sq ft plus shipping when you buy 20 sq ft.

Audio Technix 80 is better than Audio Technix 60. That being said the 60 mil is still a good deadener and will get the job done, it is our top selling product.

Good choice bro, I just did my tC hatch about a week ago maybe with the AT 60mil and I could tell a big difference (much more than I expected) plus a little goes a long way.

Now i can ride through places, windows up with absolutely no rattle (besides my stupid gas tank) people will swear its quiet in there until ya open a door or somethin! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah with the 15% off coupon i had to jump on it

How much deadener should i apply? Should i cover the whole sheet metal or only cover 25% of it? To me covering only 25% sounds like it wouldn't be that affective.

You should do it right. 25% coverage.
