Sound dampening material

How important is door dampening materials when you install door speakers? Is it a must? I'm just tapped out. I didn't know if it's a sales pitch or requirement, meaning would it be stupid of me not to do it. Thank you in advance for all the help you all can give me.

Get SecondSkin.

I've used their damplifier and damp pro. Real quality stuff. Its whats installed in my car now and has been for about three years.

Been through cold cold winters and very hot summers. Still the same as the day I installed it.

I've also used crescendo's murder mat, it's decent for the price. Not as thick as I wanted it to be.

I've also used stinger roadkill. Do not use this. It's crap. It melted on me. Also very thin.

If you're going to do it. Do it right.

If you can't afford it right now, then wait until you can.

Imagine installing an audio system inside a tin can. There's no way you can make that sound good. Properly dampening you car will not only solve that; it'll also make your car part of the system.

The roof of my volvo is entirely covered with ampere vibraflex, about 100 sq feet of hushmat for doors, floor + trunk and just bought 100 sq feet of b-stock damplifier today.

Cyclists, pedestrians and brick walls won't wake me up anymore while i'm driving.

I was not happy with the thickness or quality of second skin pro deadener, I have some on the doors of my truck. I liked my stinger expert deadener, its thicker and stiffer and it was wayyy cheaper. How did the stinger deadener melt on you? Seems very strange? It's not asphalt based and works great in all the cars I've used it in.

I had it in all my doors, it only lasted half a summer before melting. This is when I lived in SC so it does get pretty darn hot.

I didn't use the expert deadened. Just the Stinger Roadkill, it was pretty thIn IMO.

I could of had a bad batch, who knows.

Only thing I know is that I replaced most of it with damp pro and it's still there.

My installer wants to charge me $750 to do both doors in Hushmat. Is that work it. I am installing Hertz Mille MLK 1650.3 speakers in the front, Hertz MPX 165.3 in the rear with a JL sub and amp. My question is I drive a 2016 Chevy Silverado with Toyo Mud Terran tires, they have a hum to them when I drive. Is Hushmat going to really make a difference in your opinion?

750 is crazy to treat the doors. Watch a YouTube video on how to take a door panel off and do it yourself for $100
