01 BMW 325xi recommendations

So, a friend of the family has just got an 01 BMW and wants to do a system in it, he went to a local shop who quoted him $2150 for a set of comps, coaxes, 2 8" subs, prefab box, deck, wiring and install. All of the components looks to be mediocre at best and overpriced. Im wanting to help him out and think that we can get better wuality for a better price and ill do the install for free (as long as he helps and learns from it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif )View attachment 26556416

from what it looks like it consists of the following

powerbass 3 way set

powerbass 2 way coaxes (rear)

a $300 4 channel of no branding on the quote

a $50 amp kit (super awesome, im sure)

$50 4 channel rca's

JL audio dual 8 powered sub for $729.99 ACP208LG (preloaded shallow mount dual 8" subs in an enclosure)

lastly $405 in labor. The labor figure isnt too far off from what one would expect, as quality installs are crucial, but the rest of the list seems odd to me.

Thoughts? I have several directions i could head to make this guy happy with his system, but as always, i come to you all for your expertise!

equipment list im thinking of

Pioneer deh 6900bt for $88

Sundown SA-10 D2 - Sundown Audio 10" for $200

An Atrend prefab (BBox E10SV 10-Inch Single Vented Subwoofer Enclosure for $40)

SoundQubed Q1-1200.1 amp for $270

SoundQubed 4 channel $230

KnuKonceptz Kolossus 2 channel OFC kit ($60)

Karma Kable 4 Channel ($25)

KnuKonceptz 4 gauge distro block power and ground ($15 and 10 respectively)

additional speaker wire blah blah blah blah other misc stuff

my main issue is the speakers, i havent shopped for comps for a grip and am not too keen on the american bass for the budget we are working with. Any issues with my list vs theirs so far and what suggestions do you guys have for the door/rear speakers?

I'm not to familiar with BMWs, can they fit a double din HU? Also do they care if the HU doesn't play cds or they want a CD player? If a double din can fit and they don't care if they have CD player capabilities, maybe check out the Pioneer MVH-X690BS. Basically has the same capabilities as the Pioneer you mentioned it's less than a $100 on Amazon.

well, the system would be for my fiancees nephew and he just informed me that he had a few things break on the car, so its postponed for now. From what i saw, itll only take a single din unit and has to have the ac controls moved around. Its a weird dash to say the least and has an even weirder 3 way door system in it, not to mention the rear doors have little 4" mids and 6.5s in the back dash. 10 speakers in all, but i think we would be fine with some 6.5 comps up front and forgoing the 3.5" mid in the front door. He also wants to autocross in it and have the subs be modular, which is going to add considerably to the thinking ill have to doa circuit breaker would be good, but the battery is in the trunk and will basically be forced to do the big 3 right out of the gate. If we had like 8g's to throw at gear, we could make that bish sound incredible with some dynaudio coms etc etc etc.

Dang, 8k!! I'm already getting yelled at for a $230 HU. I can't imagine what the wifey would do to me if I was to spend that much on car audio lol

ikr? i have about 1200 wrapped up into mine as it sits, but thats a drop in a bottomless bucket compared to some. AND i cant even use its potential as my fiancee cant stand loud bass and i have to get some 0 gauge in there before i consider putting the sq2200.1 back in it. Running one sub off a PC250 for the moment and its driving me nuts not having all my rich luscious bass!!!
