Shop Recommendations

I I replaced my head unit and speakers last year. First had focal performance access component speakers installed at one shop. However, I wasn't happy with the sound. About 5 months ago I replaced my speakers to a set of jbl 660gti. Sounds better but I get popping sounds when locking/unlocking doors and sometimes when the ac is on. The jbl's were installed at different shop. I haven't had a system in a long time. Back in the day had Boston pros and it sounded way better. Anyone in the L.A. recommend a shop that does good work?

Go back with your known issues and make them fix it. But sounds like your just throwing money out the window.

As with your past sounding good issue, a simple tuning with some HU x-over could have helped make those speakers sound better.

Door lock noise?... A/C?... WOW... IDK who installed it but I'd get THEM to fix it... that's $$$ on fire and thrown out the window...

Yes it's been a waste of money. It's very frustrating. I'll take that route first and see if they can fix that problem. Any ideas on what they did wrong that might be causing that?

IDK for sure... I actually PAID a local shop to install a LOC in my sons car about a year ago... I was physically limited at the time... anyways, his turn signal actually cut the amps on and off... boy... was I P*ssed... fixed it myself as well... Dumbazzes had the remote wire spliced into the harness behind the glove box... I'll never go THERE again... and they are +20 year shop locally... Who knew?...

A large chain shop installed a deck in MY wife's car once and the power was wired to the brake pedal... I'll say no more... You can guess my "reaction"... It was a thing of beauty... LOL!

I should show you my house. The amount of remodeling that was done WRONGLY....and guess who has to deal with it?! Yeah...I bet you weren't very happy with a brake pedal. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. They should have known better.....wtf does that ****?

All I'll say is it was "Home of the 18 year old installer"... and I did not pay $1 actually... LOL!

Could be wiring issue. Hard to say really. Almost sounds like they somehow messed with door locks-- a/c combined....doesn't make sense.
probably is a wiring issue. maybe they used electrical tape instead of bell crimps. If the connection isnt a solid one, electrical draw from somewhere else in the car could be the culprit.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went to the first shop because they had over 300 reviews and 4.5 out of 5 star rating but I guess that means nothing. As far as sound quality the jbl 660gti should be as good or better than my old Boston pros right ?

I don't know how close you are to the valley, but Street Sound Plus in North Hills looks good. Checked their Yelp reviews and it's 5 stars. I actually checked their shop out and the only reason I didn't go w/ them at the time when I decided to change out my wife's old stock system in her Sequoia was because they didn't carry Pioneer HUs. They are an authorized dealer for Kenwood and sell other brand name items. Wish I would have just taken my wife's vehicle to that shop instead of travelling all the way down to Montebello and having that shop work on my wife's vehicle.

Also, there's a shop in Koreatown that's supposed to be good. It's off of Vermont. Can't remember the name. My buddy went there to have some JL subs installed.
