Sorta bad or REALLY bad?

How bad is it for amps to be mounted on the woofer box? Does this go for high power/big driver setups or all? I don't know where else I would/could mount my amps... I have a single cab ranger... I was thinking possibly a custom center console with them in that, but I was trying to not be too flashy with my stuff. Don't really want it walking away.

depends on how bad your box flexes try putting a quarter on the box at full power and see if the quarter jumps if it does most likely not a good idea if it dont then go for it.

It's not the flex that can hurt the amp it's the vibration. OP if you are going to mount your amps on to your box then get some rubber feet to put on it so it doesn't vibrate the amp as much

i run my amplifier bolted to my subwoofer box. like you, i really did not have any choice. i went to a local hardware and bought some 1 inch rubber block's to isolate the amplifier from the box. the rubber blocks do a decent job of dampening vibrations, better than i expected when i bought them.

flex is vibration and rubber feet will only help a small amount and not at all if screwed down tight they will simply transfer the vibrations via the screws through the mounting feet and clamping of rubber between two objects will not isolate vibration like say a motor/transmission mount they are bolted on each end with the damping coming from the fact that the center remains flexible even though the ends are mounted tightly, at best build up the top of the box if needed or add bracing thats if its even a problem what kind of wattage and subs are going in there

I guess I would go under the seats if I really had to.... I kind of wanted to challenge myself on the install end as in how clean I could make it look and whatnot. I don't plan on showing it off to everyone I meet but I wanted it to look real nice you know? As stated before, I am severely limited on options, but I wanted my investment to make me happy.

What if... I made some sort of plate (wood, other, etc.) to screw the amp to, and then screw in a rubber mat to the box, and then glue the plate to the mat? Idk. Throw out some thoughts.

I've had a hell of a time planning out this thing already, but I guess that will make it something to be proud of in the end... uuuhhhhgggg...

Amps are Kenwood KAC-8105D and KAC-8405 btw... Are they made pretty sturdy would you say?

What about if I did a rubber pad underneath, and then did some rubber "washers" for the screws? Seems like that could take out some of the rigidness of screwing them down?

Yea you'll be fine bro. some little rubber washers wouldn't hurt. But, you said it yourself, it's not a high power set up like 1000w. Haha. I recently upgraded to that and left my amps mounted on the box... went back there the other day and saw them shaking really bad and decided it was time for another mounting location.
