Sony GT420IP No Power Problem

I've got my brand new sony GT420IP head unit all wired up but for some reason it wont turn on. I've checked to see if there is power coming from the red wire out of the car and it is giving off like ~13.5 VDC, so power is going to the unit it just wont turn on for some reason. I have tried switching the yellow and red cords around. I also tried connecting the red and yellow wires from the head unit both to the red wire and it worked for a few minutes then turned off and will not work again. If anyone knows how to fix this problem your advice is very appreciated.

did you test both red and yellow with the key on?

make sure you use a ground other than what the factory harness has

for some reason now, with the key in and car on the red reads 0 and the yellow reads about 1.4ish

you probably popped the fuse....find the fuse for the radio(under dash maybe?) and replace it

Yeah the fused popped, but that wasnt my initial problem however i fixed it by twisting the red and yellow wires together on both the head unit and the wiring harness and then twisting red+yellow to red+yellow so now it gets power and has memory. thanks for your help anyway

back to the ghetto you go!

i would check and replace any bad fuses, wire it correctly. and re-install it.. the right way...

And then you'll accidentally leave the radio on one night and you're battery will die.

Wire it correctly.

The head unit turns off when the car turns off so i dont see a problem.
