Think my only question is why the switch from Alpine to Sundown?

They're less money than the type R's, what did you expect? The crossovers look nice, but likely they're just more of the same off-the-shelf stuff you'd get for half the money with a different brand name stamped on them. Type R is actually really good sounding all across their lineup though, I've been impressed with every type R setup I've heard.

Was actually wanting more mid bass and that backfired on me. The r's are going back in for now

more midbass would require an active setup. Or even a 3 way active setup with tweeter, midrange and a completely dedicated midbass.

Yeah. I gues that will be in my near future. I only have a 2 channel amp and I don't think my head unit is able to run active. Kenwood Dnx9990hd

I just threw them into google and type R components came up 280-350 new while Sundown "B-stock" can be had for 250$ or so.

IMO unless you were going to spend upwards of 600$ you weren't going to get a big upgrade over the type R components.

Nope only crutchfield sells for 300 which is msrp. Everyone else on that google search sells at normal prices. Even at my local shops they sell if for 150 authorized dealers.

And who set that price? We know who sets the MSRP price (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price), the manufacturer.

Again, 3 of the 6 "featured ads" when I typed it into google were 300$ price tag.
