Someone in SoCal that can help me set my gains?

I was wondering if someone in the SoCal area (particularly west LA, but am definitely willing to drive a ways to meet you) could help me set the gains on my sub.

I know how to set them by DMM, but unfortunately my amp is a Cadence TXA series, which cannot be set by DMM because it does not have a regulated power supply.

So i'm looking for someone who can set them by ear or has an O-scope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I have a 50hz tone for my sub, but to be honest I don't know when it's clipping. I do the 1khz tone for my speakers to set their gains, and I can hear them clip just fine. I need someone that's done this before to help me determine when the sub starts clipping.

Please let me know if you're anywhere near me, and if you have some time to spare! Unfortunately I have school mon-thurs during the day, but any time i'm available i'm more than willing to come meet you. You'll be able to hear a 15" Lethal Injection //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but I've never heard of any amp with a regulated psu. AFAIK most amps use a SMPS (switched mode power supply) to increase the voltage.

If you had a regulated psu, then if you have 11v or 16v the amps output would stay the same, but this is obviously not how amps work.

So I think your amp is normal?

play a 50hz tone, and when the sub starts to sound different, besides getting louder, youve gone too far. turn it down a little

I don't really know, but this is what Jason Paul (Cadence rep) told me for the reasoning why I can't use a dmm on the amp. Iv'e seen multiple mentions about it here too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

Can someone describe what i'm listening for then? When using the 1khz tone on the speakers, it's a clear difference when they start clipping...almost like it's a whole different frequency. I don't hear a difference in my sub, other than it getting louder!???

Seriously. Set it by ear on music. Play the heaviest bass song at your max volume, then just crank it until the sub starts to bottom out or distort or anything out of the ordinary. Then back it off a little.

It's really not that hard with out a DMM.

yes smash your coil on the back plate please lol.

even a dmm isn't accurate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif your best bet is with a oliscope. try home depot to see if they rent tools

o-scope won't tell you if it's balanced with the rest of the speakers or not.
