What's up guys. I'm doin my first install in an 01 civic and have some questions.

After checking the sound deadening guide I went to get some foam egg crate for behind the speaker. I coiuldn't find any but I picked up some nu-foam. I think it should do the same thing as the crate, but check it out to be sure its not a real bad idea.

Also I'm tryin to mount these speakers and use the stock grills( built in ) from my interior panels. I can make it work but I'd just like to be sure that it shouldn't be a problem as the speakers come with grills. I just don't know if the cone needs forward clearance. All I can see their purpose is to protect the tweaters/protect the speaker. Anyways let me know what you guys think.

I'm mounting jbl P650c's (6.5 comps) up front and P953's (6 x 9's) in back

the nu foam wont work as well because their are no waves/bumps or ridges. The reason why egg shell foam/deflex pads work so well is because their are waves and bumps and ridges on the foam so the rear wave is deflected. (Correct me if i'm wrong) but I don't think it will work as well. I'm not saying it won't work, just not as well.

You don't need the grills the speaker comes with. Their for show mainly now a-days.
