What exactly is the midwest? You consider Michigan to be west, but Nebraska is more centrally located.
East Tennessee is quite different than the rest of Tennessee. The mountains do strange things to people.

midwest, is michigan, ohio, indiana, wisconsin, minnesota, and illinois. some like to add iowa, nebraska, kansas, and missouri to the midwest when they are more in the west and are part of the great plain states
