I think the average deck will start clipping its amplified output and preamp outputs at around 85%. When I crank mine I have it at 32 out of 40, everything is run off amplifiers though (except my rear fill which has very little power)

Try turning mx off. I don't think the sub is your problem.

I agree, my HU goes to 35, I set my gain at 28, I listen to it rarely at 25.

Out of 35, usually around 16-18 for good music. For ear drum shattering i'll turn MX on, remote bass 8/10th's up and set the volume around 22.

Out of 35 I can go all the up without a problem with distortion although it is pretty loud.

I'm able to do this because I keep my gains on the amp pretty low.

Out of 35 I usally just play it 14-16, that's loud enough. I don't usally play it loud anymore, but it will go up to 28-30 without any distortion, I always leave my MX on.
