so i hooked up my system and i like the jl 4 channel with my morels they sound nice and loud and clean, but i hooked up the jl 500/1 to the w6v2 ten and it was alright but not hard hitting bass but thats more sq than anything so i hooked up my 12 w3v3s in there and it was better but not hard hitting shoot my directed 1100d on my w7 13 hit a couple times better and i didnt even have the amp up i only had a 60 amp fuse on it and never once blew it and id say it hit 4 times harder could it be my box or not set right on the amp or do i need to just sell the 500 and im already selling theses subs so what should i get i thought about 500 or 600 would be fine but that doesnt feel the same as my last system i want something clean but hard i was looking at getting a skar or two maybe 800-900 i could do idk kinda thought 500 would be fine but not anymore

also theres alot more tuning options on this amp and the specs for the subs is there numbers in there that tell me what to set the amp at like freq and all that **** and q's all i ever had to deal with is gain subsonic filter and cutoff freq

I would check your configurations on the sub box for the woofer being used,before you decide to get rid of the amp/sub? Check the specs for the enclosure needed.As for amp? Thats a decent amplifier,but on the bay,Buy It Now i found a PPI PCX-1250 for $150+$18 shipped

yeah i gotta check some stuff on the amp when i get out of work i dont think the q is set right and the box was custom when i bought the subs but its custom to fit in a camero but it could be one of thoses prefab was also i was planning on selling thoses and getting another sub. i will update later with pics and specs i had the w7 13 and that hit very low do the other ones hit lows to?

I wouldnt expect a ton on lows, or hard hitting bass from a W6 on a 500/1. The W7 you had is a great sql woofer. Maybe a couple IDQ Max's would be best for you? Another high rms sq woofer that will get loud!

Concerning the PPI amp from ebay, the PC amps do just about rated. Dont expect them to do 25+% from specs like the other oldschool amps do in from there generation. But god dang, they sound good!!!! I have owned pretty much every line of the 90's PPI's and loved every one of them!

check the box specs. it's pretty likely that the enclosure is holding the sub back. you are only giving the 800wrms sub 500, so there is some room for improvement in the box if it was built for rated, and if it's sealed, then there is much more output there. the big theing you have to your advantage is your "q" adjustments, so fear not on sacrificing much in the way of sq going to a vented enclosure. honestly, as nice as the whole jl theme is, it is more name, and tech, than end result.....somewhere right between bose and apple, imho. if you had the 13 @ 3ohm, then it was pretty close in power, really, but you did have cone area to your advantage. i would check your adjustments, set the output voltage, and make sure you are not cutting it off, or holding it back. you could likely gain a bit off the 2 300's you have, too

yeah i had the q higher than it should be each sub is .5 total q and it was at like 1.7 or so so i put it to 1 since theres two? or should i do it to .5. i put 1 bc theres two but once i did this **** theres a big difference yeah i know its all name but i got the amps cheap and the subs i got cheap i mean dirt cheap so i cant complain but i thought the w3v3s were only really 300 rms but if 400rms is the case for each one maybe i should get another 500 and hook one to each one and get a box builder to design a box and have it built for max quality and bass. the subs are awsome and sound nice and clean and just the right chest bass if it were just louder it would be perfect but since i didnt know they could handle 400 rms i would got another amp but i was also thinking getting rid of the jl amp 500 and im already selling the subs my co worker wants to buy them and maybe get one or two skars they look interesting but idk what you think and get a bigger amp

Bigger isnt always better??Its quality,not quantity as well..My opinion.Those subs may sound great just in a simple Pro Box(only built box id purchase),and look to trying that out????Or have one made/build? Just because the amp is big doesnt mean it will out perform a small amp.In this car audio world,to me.. size doesnt matter.Id rather put a small ragged out looking Autotek mean machine 66-66watt amp without a cover plate ,than that brand new big Jl on any sub.I am about quality/sound..thats what im searching for??How about you??I had an Audiobahn HCT 2200 first generation amp on my subs/Hudge monster of an amp spent 800 bucks brand new,and really didnt get what i thought id get out of it,put my old school Autotek BTS 7150-150watt amp in there,on my 1000rms subs..Couldnt be happier!!!!!!! Every time i roll up at car toys to buy connections...some one always wants to know just what the hell im runnung??Thats IT????????Yes Sir..and 35x4 rt now on my mids n highs??????I think you would be happier with a better quality amp,and try a simple pro box..My opinion.You could sell or even do a trade on an amp.200.00 bucks is a nice sum to buy a great quality old school amp that will do just fine.I put a JBL GTQ 200 on 4 kicker c-10,150rms- 10s at a 4ohm load,and it banged pretty **** hard!! 50x4 amp????????I just think you can do alot more for the money..Just my opinion.

yeah idk **** just doesnt sound good enough i want hard hitting bass and they do not do that a little bit but like like my old two 15s or my single w7 13 not even close. im going to just sell it and get something esle wish i wouldnt have sold my directed 1100d that hit hard and good.

i dont have a buget just thought that stuff would sound good. i picked up this stuff in auctions and im selling now i was thinking of the skars but nobody says anything about them would like 1k rms and either one sub or two and idk which amp. i dont want to spend a tn but im thinking maybe six or seven on subs and amp?
