So I hear DLS is quite the hot setup..

Dealers around here are selling the Diamond Audio D9 for about $900. Not a bad price. They sound very nice, except the tweeters weren't dynamic enough for me.

I'm beginning to like the DLS more and more as I hear them. I was definitely a CDT fan until I came across other speakers within the price.

I just received my 6.2 Iridiums (front) and UR6S (rear) for $830 shipped..obviously not an authorized dealer, but when it comes to saving that much, i'm all for it.

I only got the fronts installed thus far, and holy $h*t, amazing speakers.

They are still in their break-in period, so I can't judge 100% as of yet.

I've never heard of them before, but seem promising. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I was wondering how the 8.2 Iridium 8" woofer performs vs the 6.5". Obviously, it will have better low end response, but does it hold flat to the tweeter crossover point? I may be over analyzing this, as the audible difference may be negligible.

Also, what material are the speakers made out of? I'm a sucker for smooth sounding silk tweeters, and frightenly the DLS' appear to utilize aluminum or such //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I was looking at prices and specs of Diamond D9 and the usual CDT ES-620Z/Focal lineups when I found these //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also in the latest search for equipment, I noticed that the ED 6500 component set uses woofers and crossovers that look **** near identical to CDT. Could it be that the ED 6500 uses the same woofers as the CDT ES series (sans 07)?

I was told by someone on this forum that the ED midbass drivers were made by CDT and rebadged. And that the ED subs were made by Image Dynamics and rebadged for ED. I'm not 100% but that is what I was told.

In my very humble opinion I can't see any reason to get a 2 way component that sports and 8" mid. Unless you're in a vehicle where space is a minimum and there is no room for a sub and you want to feed full range to those components at low to moderate vol levels. To me 6 1/2" 2 ways work just fine if you can't find a place for a 3 way setup. Running an 8" is too close to a sub in my opinion. But I guess it would produce some insanely loud and clear midbass though.

If you have any kind of eq or if you're listening to them off axis those tweeters wouldn't be that hard to tame. I mean if you think about it metal tweeters (whether they're aluminum or titanium) were designed to handle more power than silk so don't be too quick to decide against tweeters just because they're metal.

I'm beginning to like the DLS more and more as I hear them. I was definitely a CDT fan until I came across other speakers within the price.

I ran CDT EuroSports [6.5"] for about a year. Then purchased Iridiums. The DLS speakers are much better. I thought the CDTs were awesome, then got the DLS and was amazed. They are much sharper in the vocal department and have tighter bass lines. So I wouldn't think twice about getting DLS. I found my DLS Iridiums on eBay from a Seller "dimensionaudio" for $499+shipping, brand new.

ED mids were probably not rebadged, but more like being based off them. And of course, CDT speakers, i'm sure are Vifa-based drivers.

Not too sure about ED subwoofers. I don't keep up with them anymore because there is no use if ED comes out with new subs everyday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Good price! I'm glad you're happy with them. Last I heard were the Iridium 6.2 in an undeadened-doored-mercedes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif They definitely sounded better than the CDT Audio I've had and heard by car. The tweeters of the CDTs are ehh, bland. lol. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

if yer lookin for midbass, check out the eD eu700 looks promising. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey Justintoxicated im from the LBC to mang. Anyways, I have the Iridium 8.3 on order (3 way) and post a reivew on that. I came from the CDT camp. I ordered from Tim, t0playa or somethign like that here on the forums. Good deal!

wow your door looks great with the 6.2 in there! Are you going to deaden the outer door skin also?
It sounds even better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

But yeah, i'll end up deadening that as well once I find out how much deadener I have left over.
