so i feel misled...

This is just a bad situation anyway you look at it because I and anyone else that reads this thread is going to tell you that Team Maxxsonics Db Drag guys are going to abuse the amps. Pretty plain and simple. I'm sure Big Oso and any other Team Maxxsonics guys are absolutely upstanding, but when it comes to Db Drag competitors, they seek to get the most that they can out of an amp. Also, Mike Stiers (Maxxsonics employee) told me flat out that the Goliath does not like anything over 5 volts through the RCA's. Bamaboy's situation is unique in that as soon as the amp saw power it blew, yet again another example of a previous user that probably abused the amp before Bamaboy. By no means am I an expert on this situation, but when I received my replacement amp from Maxxsonics and hooked it up @ 1 ohm with the same external crossover settings I used on my first Goliath, the amplifier got extremely hot so before anything bad happened I called Maxxsonics and talked to Mike Stiers and that is when I learned about the RCA voltage. I turned off all signal boosting on my crossover and wa-la the amp could suddenly run @ 1 - .5 ohm without getting even lukewarm.
I really hate that you are going through this. Good luck, I hope everything works out.

****, and my eclipse has 8v preouts :-\

i still dont think your input voltage would blow the amp without even getting to turn it on and hear a little while.
Don't you think that it's a little hard to argue with a guy that actually works for Maxxsonics and probably knows the amp better than anyone on this forum??? I too believe that the amp was messed up before jeepintn even got it, but if jeepintn was indeed running 8 volts to the amp then the input voltage from the RCA's would certainly screw it up even further. You don't have to take my word for it, I only blew one of these up and called Maxxsonics to find out the scoop.

Here's how you get it taken care.

1. Call (847) 540-7700 and ask for technical support.

2. Ask for Mike Stiers

3. Explain the problem, have the specs to your head unit and subs and Mike will determine the cause and solution.

i did that, mike was very helpful, and today i sent the amp out to CIA Engineering in PA. should find out next week the cause and solution to my problem.

then why does the goliath have a input for a module that can boost your single to 18 volts, and by the way i love hifonics ive been running them since they came out and still am,so yes im very familar with the amp in question.
