JBL LC-A504: Good, bad, ugly?

I have this amp, and I'm running 4 6.5" speakers in my car. They're not high end components or anything, just some Alpine SPS-17C2 coaxials. They actually sound very good, but I'm going to add a sub/amp combo and figured I should amp the speakers as well. I have a 200watt, 40-channel JBL LC-A504 amp sitting around from a few years ago, I just can't seem to find anything about it. It will put out about 50 watts to each speaker, which is what they're rated for. Will this improve the sound quality over simply using the amp on my Kenwood Excelon KDC-x890? I remember the amp sounding pretty good in my old car, but it was years ago and I didn't really have a good ear. What do you guys think about this?
