a read a lot about it, and before purchasing my hifonics xx-goliath, a lot of things i read said the amps were .5 stable for daily, even the person who i got it from emphasized that. well, thinking it would be ok, i wired my subs to .5 and hooked it up, well, as soon as i turned it up, the amp cut into protect mode, and now it wont come out of protect. i removed the speaker leads to make sure there wasnt a problem with the subs themselves, and its still in protect. so, i guess now i have to take it to the repair center :-\ only one day of "use", this sucks.

the same reason the 20.1 is rated at 1 ohm but can run UNDER .5
i dont think anyone in the entire world would compare something hifonics puts out to the 20.1.... you should have hooked it up at 1 or above just to make sure it wasnt an amp problem.... cause now even if it is they can just blame it on you wiring it down that low.

I think if the seller said it will do .5 and it blows that makes it a seller responsibility. I sure as well wouldnt sell my BX1605D saying it will do .5 Now Im scared of trying to run a ab100.1 @ .35 after reading this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

technically thats true. But I dont think the seller should be at fault for the guy actually running it at that, when in the manual it only says to go down to 1.

no, i am in no way at all comparing a 20.1 to a hifonics anything, im just answering his question as to why do it lower than recommended
The same reason you do so with most any amp. To see if you can. Inarguably there's risk involved and if User X is willing to waste their investment in a quick puff og Magic Smoke then that is their choice.

Personally I'm not one of the ones that would risk it. Others might be.

Lesson learned, though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and the amp broke, so did you learn anything?
In a word? Don't

i guess azbass is right, why risk it if its not recommended, i sure have learned my lesson
Sorry to hear it, d00d //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
