So, how can I accurately tell how many watts my subs are getting?

So, I've got two 1000/1's now, and until I get new subs, I'm have one on each of my 13w6v2's. They are RMS 750 a piece. So, obviously sending 1000 to one isnt such a good idea. How can I measure exactly how much power is hitting them before maxing it out? Just guesstimate? Like set gains accordingly and then just make max @ 75% of my Head unit volume?

Idiot, sure... retarded? not like someone who arbitrarily tries to judge output into a reactive load with a DMM.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

He's right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I really wish that method hadn't been recommended...it's done nothing but confuse people.

Thank you.

to the op you need a clamp meter, DMM, pen and paper.

use test tones, step them in 5 or 10 hz steps, do it at a low volumn and plot the impendence.

Or clamp the DC in current and voltage and guess at the amp effiency.

Thank you.

Thanks. Yeah I'm well aware of how to set gains, but for my situation it was more involved than that. I've been around the block a few times, also an EE major. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction tho, just needed a little info //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
