Smell??

After running my sub on full tilt (about 29-30 out of 40) for a song like Throw it UP this smell starts to come into my cabin. It doesn't quite smell like voice coils, but close.

Could it be just smells coming out of the box?

I can't see how the VC could be burning with me not having an insanely powerful amp. :/

Kinda smells like wood. not very much though.

I dunno how old the sub is, I bought it from MisterGrubbs.

How can you tell if it's clipping?

I'd put money on it being the coils...

x2... If its just on low songs like the OP mentioned i can't see it being anything else.

I'm guessing sum serious clipping.

Will do. The gain is at about 65%. My HU has 2v preouts.

Sonance can handle 1500w max and i'm only able to pump in about 900w max.

You can't, its only audible through extreme distortion.

Set your amp with a dmm

Got any bass boost on the amp? Turn it off

yes, but if it's off than the sub is very quiet.

Don't use bass boost=clipping=heated coils=kablow

Read the gain setting tutorial is my only advice.
