small companies

Why is it that small companies such as Treo, Audioque, Sundown, TC Sounds, Digital Designs to name a few make such higher quality products than Fosgate, Kicker, Alpine, Orion, Hifonics? The subs from TC Sounds are at the top of their class. The amps from all these companies outperform all of the higher end companies. It's pretty frustrating.

They are smaller more directed companies would be my guess. Where as the big companies are attempting to make much bigger profits and move much more product. Therefore their equipment has to reach a more broader range of peoples needs.

the small companies are trying to make a name for themselves in a sea of electronics so they make a better product. the big name companies have to keep in mind they have shareholders that they have to answer to.

as demand for better prodcts goes up so will price, but its more whos gona back up new technology or just mask something they have and call it better....lol.... ive been using dd for yrs , i remember when you could get a 9515 direct for like 189-289 something like that.... smaller companies take more time to closely control how stuff gets made, others are out for how fast can they make money with no care for the consumer...

A small company is targeting a very small market... a.k.a. us on the forums. Most of us know good product and trust our "peers" of the forums reviews to make an informed decision. On the other hand, a big company tries to appeal to the masses. Those masses are normally not coming on to forums to try and research a good product, but will instead let the brand influence their decision.

Customer Service is another biggy that makes a small company better than a big one. I KNOW that Mark will take care of me if I order a Mach 5 product... but I don't know if the customer service rep for Alpine really cares if my problem is resolved as they have a lot of market share and one lost customer really isn't going to hurt them that bad.

^^ All my opinion^^

i love the small companies! customer support is alot better then talking to a RF tech. id rather talk to a owner of a company then talk to someone who goes to work to having this mind set(9-5).

quality over quantity, a small business is alot easier to manage and ensure quality control. Most of the small businesses you mentioned are still expanding, adding retailers, 5 yrs from now that list will probably be completely different.

Why is it frustrating? They are giving you an option for a better product.

I think perhaps you should say that it is frustrating that big companies do not put out quality products.

y who cares bout bigger comps, i know they have to market their product but in the end i will pay my money for a company , that is more worried about customer satisfaction then the money.

Don't ask me Kove, I am just trying to help the guy articulate the point I think he was trying to make.

I just installed 2 brand new Ample Audio amps in the 4 Runner this morning. The EXA 3000DX and EXA 500. The EXA 3000DX is rated at 1500 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm, 1200 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms and 800 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms. The EXA 500 is 60 watts x 4 @ 4 ohms and 90 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms. The gains are put in places where I can reach them and they look much much better than my 2 Fosgate amps. Ample Audio is a small company that makes really excellent amps and other car audio components. Sound wise they are much much cleaner than Fosgate. Interesting thing about Ample Audio is that the main company is located about 5 minutes from my house in Buena Park. I met the owner directly and looked at the main warehouse. He is very very friendly and it appears that this company only had 2 people in the office at the time that I called. The owner himself sold me both EXA amps brand new for $550 out the door with the full warranty. The EXA 3000DX has a different type of bass than the RF T1500-1BD. Hits harder. I am through with Rockford Fosgate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the end of the month those Fosgate amps come out of the 300ZX.

Terrible question, way too vague to take seriously. Do small companies come out with break-through technology? Sure, look what Dan Wiggins has started with his bl optimized motor tech. Do large companies come out with break-through technology? Sure, just look what JL Audio has done to create the BL optimized W7 (done much differently than Dan Wiggins idea).

Can you find an Ample Audio amplifier that will work better for your setup than RF amps would? Sure. Does that mean Ample Audio products are superior to RF's. Of course not.
