Small car wants big spl

how is that a made-up situation? I thought it was pretty obvious that he was wanting opinion on 3 TC Epic 10's versus 4 TC Epic 8's, or 3 SA-10's to 4 SA-8's, ect.
again, I fail to see how it's 'made-up'
Because as SPLaudio said, the SA8 has a diff coil size than the 10. Plenty of models have a smaller coil for the 8" version, or no 8 at all. And the ones who do carry the same coil size from the 8 to larger subs of the same model, all have a coil size restricted by the smallest suspension in the model's lineup.

And you didnt say "you can put more power to four 8's of the same model, with the same coil size, as the three 10's", you made a generic blanket statement that many times is not true. No biggy, was just pointing this out.

Because it's loud and when you turn it up the sound travels? Otherwise we'd all be rocking stock stereos and be discussing about who has the loudest stock stereo.
I don't even have a stock sub... I'm such a loser.
So everyone with an aftermarket stereo has built it to annoy people a 1/4 mile away?

Ok so I have a Toyota Yaris hatchback. Right now I have a 12" L7 in a ported box with a no name amp. I'm gonna sell that setup and I was wondering if 3 10's or 4 8's would be better. Looking at dd, tc sounds, sundown, etc. I just like the 8's because of size and price. I'm gonna run them off a brutus 1600. Would it be louder than the L7? Never had any competition subs before. Give any advice also. What should I do? I'm gonna do the box myself so sealed or ported? Thanks
I was thinking something small like a smart car......Should be a nice build though

Dont bank on it. Most 8's are restricted in coil size due to spider size limitations. One of many reasons why three 10's > four 8's.
I like the DD 8's...I use to steetbeat 152's with them in my CRX then demo them for hours after I went through the line....They'd shake the ground with low bass sounding better than many systems with larger subs...

You are comparing apples to oranges. Its more likely your install was the difference between your system and those people with larger subs. There are a lot of factors that decide final performance levels, brand name/model and cone diameter are only two of those factors.
