Skar EVL 18 VS. SSA ICON

Cool.. a lively discussion often gets the best results.. He was looking at Skar 18 $270 ea and SSA ICON at whatever they cost... I know they are more just not how much... He has about 15 ft3 to play with and keep it under the window line... that is max with subs/port up the way I figured it... no above the wheelwells.

Pretty sure a pair of 18's need more airspace than that for a ported enclosure.

Id keep atleast 6 inches from the hatch. You coukd build a guide behind the box that curves upward from the floor to the top of the box to guide the ports pressure from being trapped between the box and the hatch..

The OP is looking at the Skar website specs which say 4.5 ft3 with 55.5 in2 ported tuned to 31 hz... lol!

I think its a miss print. Id do atleast 6 with 80in

Yes I know, but they did the same with my 12's... CSCstang went with 5 ft3 81in2 well over the 4 ft3 48 in2 recommended for 2... IDK!

The parameters say they are wrong. That small you are going to smoke the coils..

Yea. The cms is .045mm/n very stiff the mms is 450 so its needed but the qes is .7 so its a heavy cone and stiff spider but the motor is weak so power compression with this design is an issue.

U telling me 2 18s need more than 15 cf?? I seen a guy with hcd3 18 with 13 cf box and it's cracking his car.

If you want to build a complex box you coul squeez two 18s but i think if you keep it simple and do something like i suggested with the guide behind tge port it will be louder down low..
