size matters?

I've noticed most use 6.5 comps for their front stage. Is this simply a size issue? If you had room for a 8"and a 4" for mid bass and mid range would this be better?Iv'e got the room if I move the tweet to the a pillar or the dash area. I'd like some opinions on a system of this type. I'd use a single 10" sub in the back if I needed more bass.

A 3 way system can be nice, but there are certain drawbacks to installing one, such as properly imaging the sound stage. Of course, this is only a huge concern if one if after SQ. Most decent 6.5" 2 way comps will do the job just fine.

There are lots of compromises with car speaker installs... the bigger you go with the midbass driver, everything else being equal, the more air it can move and the more midbass you can have.... but, the bigger the mid, the more they tend to beam the higher frequencies that they play, which can hurt sound quality. And like Dejawiz said, 3-ways are more limited as to where you can mount them, and often compromise sound-stage and imaging. For me to get the imaging and sound-stage I want in a three-way, I would probably have to mount the midbass in the floor somehow, there is not enough room for all three drivers where I want them, in the kicks.

A typical 3-way setup has the midbass in the door, the midrange in kicks, and the tweet wherever it sounds best to you (in the kick, door, sail panel, a pillar, etc)

Depends on the speakers. I'd run a cheap set of Kenwood 2 way comps over an Audiobahn 3 way set anyday.
He did say a "good" 3 way system though which would mean Audiobahn wasn't an option, lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That is true, he did state that.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Size does not matter... in order for a girl to have intimate knowledge of you, she would have to like you first in order to get that close to you. Do you smell what I'm cooking?!

Besides... if she falls in love with you, love is blind... she will think you are bigger than you really are!
