Single SQL Sealed (modestly powered)

I'm trying to plan out a small stereo system for a 1990 Nissan 240sx I just purchased. I initially was not going to install anything because I didn't want to add extra weight (the thing is nearly stripped out), but the factory 15 year old 4x6 coaxials up front with an rms rating of 7 watts is just not cutting it at all for me. Especially coming from a completely custom setup in my old car.

I'm looking for a single sub (probably 12" I guess). I was thinking about a Brahma, but I'm really not sure if that will be necessary. To give you an idea of what kind of sound I'd like - A sealed Audiomobile MASS 12" with maybe 400 watts rms was pretty good for me (I actually had 2 of them with 1200 watts rms, but never pushed them NEAR that hard). I don't like extremely loud bass that just drowns everything out, but I want something to get a fair amount louder than necessary without sounding crappy and distorted (if that makes sense). I plan on putting it in a sealed box, and I don't really want something that I'll have to put an assload of power into to get anything out of it, although I will probably ultimately be upgrading my 80 amp alternator to maybe 150 or so anyway...

Thanks in advance...

what about a 12w6v2, great sq, modest power...with say...oh the xtant 6.1 that im selling... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Man, it seems like there a lot of different good low-power sql subs these days. Back in the day (well, like 4 years ago I guess) everybody used to be on one sub for a few months at a time at least before the next "best sql" sub was crowned or whatever. I remember the IDMax - good to know it's still around. Keep the suggestions coming fellas! I guess I'll have to do a lot of reasearch still though! =P

jl w6v2, soundplinter rl-p, ascendant audio avalanche, adire audio brahma, re XXX (requires quite a bit more power than the others), idmax, si d2 (not out yet, I think), elemental designs 13ov.2, or my diamond 10's (if you realize 2 is better than one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )

Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment. I have only heard the jl and my diamonds obviously, but the others have all gotten good reviews.

I am going to go with only one because I need to keep the extra weight to a minimum. The car's performance is still more important to me...
Oh well. It was worth a try.

If it means anything to you I am planning on getting a pair of rl-p 12's as soon as I sell my diamonds. They are supposed to be awesome sql subs, which is exactly why I want them.
