The most i've seen anybody use for speaker wire is 8 gauge. That includes db drag where people have 30,000 watts PER sub.
Using 4 gauge is completely unnecessary.

i've seen a few people on here using 4 guage.... Meade's using 4 guage on his new build for example.

i tested goign from 16 gauge to 8 gauge running 5kw on a single sub, difference of maybe .1 db, but when you get to that point .1 db is hard to determine if its voltage or something else

Ditto. You don't see as much loss through a short run of speaker wire thats too small like you would through long run of power wire thats too small.
