since I have voltage drops.. should I run a ground direct..

Yes, It will make a difference.

I'm going to try it in my car(battery in the front and rear) and my friends car (front battery only) his dims badly!

However dimming lights under load and voltage drops on the system power and ground wires are different.

If you have dimming lights, that doesn't usually mean that you have a voltage drop on the amps electrical supply.

It means you're pulling more current and your Alternator can supply so your voltage dips from 13.5+ volts to 12.6(typical battery resting voltage) and below.

Voltage drop means that Voltage is lost to a poor connection or resistance in the system.

Running a ground wire from your front to back battery will help the ground side carry more current with less resistance, but the improvement depends on how inadequate the ground was before.

My amps drops to about 12 volts at full tilt and causes my lights to dim. I can only assume this is what's considered a voltage drop? What is the easiest way test the ground spot in the back? Can't I put the neg. lead on the neg post of the back battery and pos lead on the ground spot and test for resistance to see if the ground spot is good?
