Since I browse CAC

rg on a daily basis (love window shopping), I figured I would post some relevant info regarding this thread.
After doing some basic look ups, the WHOIS status for the caco domain is currently "CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED" which sounds bad, but basically just means that the domain cannot be moved to another registry. The status otherwise, is ACTIVE. The domain was created on July 11th, 2008, and was updated (renewed) July 11th, 2010 and will expire if not updated (renewed) on July 11th, 2011. So there should be no problems with the site not being paid for or whatever.
The DNS name also resolves properly to 69.167.154.153 which must be their server address, which is confirmed by a reverse DNS look up for that IP showing host3.caraudioclassifieds.org
This screams to me server outage/upgrade due to any number of reasons. It might even have been announced, even though I never check that part of the forum over there. Give caco some time and it might just re-appear, but it definitely does not sound like they closed the site down, as of 12:30PM EST at least.
By the way, what the hell is up with preventing links in new posts at CA? I would have happily posted the results of all these tests, standard internet commands like WHOIS and DIG which are harmless utilities that are public domain. Removing the ability to post URL's must be some ill fated attempt to block spammers, or *competition* to this site by not allowing you to reference other websites by name. That is not a solution to spammers, and it just limits functionality and usability for EVERYONE. I assume, and I believe most would agree, that the more a site is open and functional, the better it would. There are many other ways to combat spammers, and I see no other logical reasoning for blocking something as harmless as a URL on an INTERNET forum.
